FENG SHUI |
- Creating your House of Belonging |

"Every spirit builds itself a house, and beyond its house,
a world and beyond its world, a heaven. Know then that the
world exists for you." Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Your house of belonging is not a place. It is a presence – your
authentic presence in your own life and in your own home." Sarah Ban Breathnach
What is Feng Shui
Our bodies and our homes are the physical manifestation of our spirit and they reflect the state of our spirit, our being. Lots of physical clutter indicates lots of mental clutter. Obsessive neatness indicates the need to control and lack of balance. An emphasis on presentation rather than living indicates someone who is not comfortable with themselves and needs validation from others. Our homes represent us. Our spirit is the stone thrown into a pool of water; the outward ripples represent our mind, our feelings, our bodies, our homes and our world radiating out from the centre.
We each need a house of belonging – a place and a presence that is authentic and genuine. Feng Shui is the vehicle I use to help you create your own house of belonging – an harmonious environment that will nurture and sustain you. There is a continual interplay between your inner and outer world with each influencing the other.
“Feng Shui is the study of how to arrange your outer world to enhance your inner world to enhance your outer world to enhance your inner world and so on” Sarah Ban Breathnach
How I use Feng Shui
Feng Shui is the Chinese art and science of living in harmony with your environment. ‘Living in harmony does not just mean putting things in their proper or “right” place; it means aligning your inner world with your outer environment (Eric Shaffert)’. An integral element of Feng Shui is the role of ‘chi’ (vital energy) in your home. I use the Black Hat School of Feng Shui which seeks to optimise the flow of chi and is based on the Bagua (see below).
A Feng Shui consultation allows you to become more aware of how your surroundings and your personal energy relate to and influence each other. You will benefit from a feng shui consultation if you:
- don’t feel comfortable in your home or are having problems in parts of your life
- don’t like your surroundings
- are looking to take action to move forward in different parts of your life
- want to change certain parts of your life
- want to start on your external environment first to get comfortable before looking at your internal environment
- have a house but don’t know how to create a home
- want to select a prosperous site for building or the best orientation for a house
- want to discover the movement of energy throughout the house
- want to establish and maintain long term prosperity, health and well being.
You contact me by phone or email to arrange a consultation. A consultation will normally take around 2 -3 hours, preferably during daylight hours. If you have a house plan, sending it to me prior to the consultation will allow me to do some prior work.
I will then visit your home. The consultation starts with a conversation between us about you, your family, the history of the house (if you know it), where you think things could be improved and what you are hoping to achieve. I help you to get clear on what home means to you and show you how to create a picture of what this shows.
We will then walk around your home together using the Bagua map to discuss issues and solutions. Feng Shui practitioners use the Bagua map to correlate the different parts of the house to the different parts of your life. The Bagua comes from the ancient Chinese Book of Changes known as the I Ching and means eight trigrams.

I look at the material items in your home to help you determine the values and metaphors in your life. I test for electrical radiation with a Gauss meter and dowse for ley lines (earth radiation) and underground water (both of which can also impact on health).
After discussion, we will sit down and prioritise the suggested changes. I will forward you an email confirming the suggested changes so you can remember them. I will follow up a month later to see how the changes are working and make changes if necessary.
The cost of a consultation is $180. A consultation includes a follow up conversation one month later and further advice via email for up to 4 months from the date of the visit. Contact me to arrange timings or buy a consultation now…
